Central Finance Facility (CFF) is a Treasury function of MUSCCO responsible for providing savings and credit services to its affiliate SACCOs. It has been operating as a section under finance department in MUSCCO up until year 2024 when MUSCCO developed its new strategic plan which has restructured the Union to come up with two subsidiaries namely Central Finance Facility (CFF) and Cooperatives Development Institute (CDI). CFF has been licensed as a Secondary SACCO by Registrar of Financial Institutions in Malawi on .To this effect, MUSCCO will have a Central Finance Facility operating autonomously as a separate Cooperative entity owned by SACCOs and providing financial services to SACCOs.
The change is necessitated by the drive to build a strong and sustainable SACCOs Liquidity Fund capable of competing with other financial sector players in providing Savings and Credit Services. Thus, SACCOs will be mobilized to create their own Cooperative Financial Institution which they will capitalize and will be accessing any form of credit for onward lending to their members and development. SACCOs have a Vision that they should no longer rely on other financial sector players to provide them with liquidity loans in case of need. Their own Central Facility Should provide all their financial services need.
