16 to 18 March 2022 attending to a training on small and medium enterprises product development and lending. A day before the start of the training was dedicated to the review of proposed amendments of the Financial Cooperative Act of 201. The review attracted directors and senior officers of different SACCOs led by the MUSCCO Board President, Mr. Jonas Chiweza. The review meeting was attended by over 100 cooperators.
The Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (MUSCCO) organized the training to equip SACCO Managers, Loans/Credit Officers and other officers with relevant skills and knowledge on how they can grow and sustain their cooperatives through inclusion of the business community in Malawi as members.
In his remarks, MUSCCO Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Fumbani Nyangulu, stated that such a training is critical as it brings a new dimension to SACCO business in supporting the government’s agenda of financial inclusion. SACCO’s have to embrace all Malawians from different communities or portfolios.
“As SACCOs are growing, member needs also keep on changing and increasing and this kind of training will help the SACCOs to serve the members better,” said Nyangulu.
